Spotted: Pottery Barn’s Spring Collection

I just received the Spring Preview from Pottery Barn and thought I let you in early on what they’ll be showing in their stores the first of the year.

From a quick once over, it looks like:

A color palette of whites, creams soft muted tones led by blue grays and leaf green and apricots.

Painted furniture to lighten the mood

Dreamy bedding

Illustrator prints mixed small repeats a la Bloomsbury

Architectural salvage for lighting ,accessories and art

Here are my favorites. Which ones are yours?

I am a sucker for vintage inspired lighting.

What gardener wouldn’t want this set up?

Actually, what I love most about this is the maps on the wall.

Last Minute Gifts for a Designer You Know

I am making my list and checking it twice… here are a couple of things on my wish list I am coveting. What’s on your wish list? Tell me by leaving a comment. Happy Holidays.

Hang and Level

I saw this on late night TV (I know its cheesy, but sometimes you can find a gem) and immediately put it on my list. Any designer who works with art, accessories, staging or makeovers should have Hang and Level in their toolbox.

ipad Moleskine

I love my ipad, but I would love this hybrid cover from Moleskine even more. Think I need one for my iphone too!

Vitra Chandelier

I adore chairs! This gives me the best of both worlds. I can fuel my affection for chairs and still have space to move around in my lab- oh, I mean house.

Vitra has been making minature versions of its chairs for years. inspired by them Paola Pivi made this chandelier entirely from these small chairs with an aluminum structure to hold them together. Each one is composed in a ball formation that measures approximately 28 inches in diameter and is made from a unique selection of the miniature chairs.

Appy Holiday - an itunes card for my favorite apps. If you’re in the design business and you aren’t tech savvy. Well, been nice knowing you. Design is riding the tech wave and if you’re not on it, well….

Flipboard

I am an avid magazine reader and this app has gotten me organized and away from all the tear outs and piles of articles to be read. Now I curate my own magazine through Flipboard. Flipboard has managed to publish arguably the prettiest, most fluid content app without paying a single editorial team, photographer or journalist. The souped-up news aggregator launched this year as a reader that transforms links from social networks into a slick e-magazine with images and copy pulled from the source. My favrorite way to read these days.

Honeysuckle: Pantone Color of the Year

Ta Ta Turquoise, Hello Honeysuckle!

“Courageous. Confident. Vital. A brave new color, for a brave new world. Let the bold spirit of Honeysuckle infuse you, lift you and carry you through the year. It’s a color for every day – with nothing “everyday” about it .”

That is how Pantone describes it’s 2011 color of the year . A dynamic reddish pink, Honeysuckle is encouraging and uplifting. It elevates our mood, instilling the confidence, courage and spirit to meet the exhaustive challenges that have become part of everyday life. It’s a color that makes Dorothy Draper proud.

“In times of stress, we need something to lift our spirits. Honeysuckle is a captivating, stimulating color that gets the adrenaline going – perfect to ward off the blues,” explains Leatrice Eiseman, executive director of the Pantone Color Institute®. “Honeysuckle derives its positive qualities from a powerful bond to its mother color red, the most physical, viscerally alive hue in the spectrum.”

Expect to see the rosy shade pop up on everything next year from dresses to appliances. Last year, turquoise was supposed to bring calm and serenity to our troubled world. So moving forward, hopefully thinking pink will improve the economic outlook for the new year. By the way, what’s that color therapists say about pink?

SPOTTED: Sway Rocking Chair

The Sway Rocking Chair, designed by Markus Krauss, is shaped in a way that lets two people sit and rock at the same time. The wide chair has a padded seat and is built with a steel frame that offers two different seating positions.

But it also does more- I love the swivel pillow; not to mention the different positions for lounging to sleeping. A telescoping bar locks the rocker in place an it becomes an arm chair. Perfect for my Gossip Girl marathons!
