Metal blinds have never really gone away- they are still a stalwart in contract and commercial situations. But looks like the product category might be poised for a rebirth. We’ve spotted some innovation and reinvention of metal blinds recently; meaning that they are working their way up the trend curve again.

Metal Blinds Bring Pattern to the Window
At Heimtextil, several manufacturers showcased how digital printing can be a tool of reinvention. 2″ metal blinds were printed or laminated with digitally printed film with a variety of patterns, scenics and motifs. Paired with ladder tapes they felt a bit retro ; without they gave new meaning to art at the window.
Now they are being spotted from artist studios to luxury hospitality.

At this year’s Collective Design, Ash NYC used classic 2″ white metal blinds to reimagine workspaces . Known for mixing chic interior design and property development, Ash NYC threw out the standard rules of workspace design by using the blinds to to create walls and partitions .
